Communications and trust are key to the successful implementation of every business decision and all brand positioning.

Leadership has to align on the strategy. Employees have to feel the rationale. Customers have to believe the benefit. In short, all stakeholders need to see a win in it for them.

When it’s a mission-critical initiative, or one particularly complex or fraught with landmines, an experienced, audience-centric counselor is invaluable.

That’s what I do.  I am a seasoned communications strategist and independent counselor bringing fresh perspective to businesses, helping enhance their reputation, retention and competitive opportunities. My questions, insights and approaches are fueled by previous involvement in an exhaustive set of transferable business dynamics, issues and opportunities.

I am passionate about business as a force for good and am one of an elite cohort of Certified Conscious Capitalism Consultants. I bring clients real-time insights into the evolving societal expectations for corporate character.  I was recruited to serve on the founding Board of  Conscious Capitalism Atlanta, serve as a counselor to Georgia’s goBeyondProfit CEO alliance, and provide guidance to B Corp innovators.

Treehouse projects and clients range from diagnostic plans and 1-day workshops to 4-day-a-week embeds. My clients’ sizes range, mostly from 500k to 5B in revenue including Floor & Decor, Inspire Brands, UPS, Markel, Boulder Crest Institute, the U.S. Center for SafeSport, Amana Academy, Serenbe, Emory Healthcare, Southern Company, Brain4Care, CollinsCooperCarusi Architects, BoxLock, IACT Health and Principle Business Enterprises.  In recent years I embedded as part-time Executive-in-Residence at $1 billion Jackson Healthcare where I led the evolution of its entire Marketing Communications function including development of a strategic plan, corporate brand positioning, earned & social media, new employee engagement channel, community impact platform, talent resourcing, benchmarking/metrics, and providing b-to-b marketing services to its operating companies.

I am an agency veteran, including 14 years with Edelman, the largest global, independent PR firm.  There I led corporate and b-to-b campaigns as Executive Vice President, and stewarded global best practices among its corporate communications leaders as Americas Region Operations & Strategy Director. I managed  work for scores of diverse brands – including Southern Company, UPS, The Weather Channel, Newell-Rubbermaid, Carter’s, and VF Corp – and dozens of visionary small businesses and B-to-B companies.  Before taking the Americas role, I created and grew Edelman’s Atlanta Corporate practice to over $7 million in annual revenue and a team of 30.

I was privileged to help hone the annual Edelman Trust Barometer into a strategic insight-driver for building trust.  I have counseled many on trust-building and purpose platforms, from Walmart, SC Johnson, Disney and Kellogg’s, to TSYS, Georgia-Pacific and Novelis.

Prior to Edelman, I founded the Corporate and B-to-B practice for a local agency, The Headline Group, and worked on the PR side of advertising agencies to launch my career.

I have consistently held non-profit Board roles for 30 years.  I currently serve on the Board of Trustees and Executive Committee of the Inspire Brands Foundation and am a committee chair on the Trees Atlanta board. I’m a member of the National Advisory Council for College of Charleston‘s College of Communications, and am an active graduate of Leadership Atlanta (class of 2001). I have served multiple board terms for Georgia Center for Nonprofits (which I chaired) and have served the Atlanta Community Food Bank, CARE and Mount Vernon Presbyterian School. I’m a committed member of 1% for the Planet and serve as the Founding Chair of the Conscious Capitalism Summit Leader Cohort for CEOs and Presidents.

I was honored by the Atlanta Business Chronicle as a Woman of Influence in 2023, hopefully paying off earlier recognition by Atlanta Woman as a Professional Woman to Watch. My longest “client relationship” is with my husband, Guy, which has grown with strategic brand extensions Evan (Rhodes College ’17) and Allegra (College of Charleston ’19). I’m an outdoor enthusiast, sustainability advocate and healthy nutrition buff.
