Patty Knap Tucker

I advise leaders on the language and strategy that helps drive their business value and create the conditions where people are motivated to act together.

As an independent communications strategist, counselor and facilitator, I bring fresh perspective to complex decisions, organizational change and sensitive issues. I take a systems view: spotting patterns across stakeholders, anticipating risks and finding opportunities to move forward together. My approach draws on behavioral science and experience advising hundreds of businesses and serving more than a dozen boards.

Clients tap me for focused and often mission-critical needs: a diagnostic assessment, a strategic communications plan, counsel on a specific challenge, or facilitation of a consequential meeting or event.

And I’ve also embedded with clients. At Pye-Barker Fire & Life Safety, I created the comms function to build a people-first culture through rapid acquisition growth. I was privileged to introduce its broad-based employee ownership program and create initiatives to strengthen the mindset and behaviors of an “ownership culture.” At Jackson Healthcare, I served as Executive-in-Residence, leading the evolution of its Marketing Communications strategy and function.

Before launching Treehouse Counsel 10+ years ago, I spent 14 years at Edelman in executive and global leadership roles, advising brands including UPS, Newell Brands, VF Corp, and Southern Company. I worked on the Edelman Trust Barometer research and helped global practice leaders share and adopt best practices.

I’m a Certified Conscious Capitalism Consultant and facilitate a quarterly CEO roundtable for Atlanta leaders. My commitment to community includes board service with Trees Atlanta and the College of Charleston’s Communications Council.

If you’re working through a challenge that would benefit from a been-there-done-that  strategic communicator, let’s talk.
